Yes, I skipped 4 days of blogging. It's not too bad right? (Trying to console myself).
Anyway, as promised, let me just do a quick review on this.

Yes, my accent is real by Kunal Nayyar - 3/5
I got this book last minute at the airport before boarding the plane. It seemed interesting so I dumped the other book (which I had brought along with me) to my husband to bring home :p (My hand luggage was already full).
Most of you will recognize Kunal from the hit TV series, Big Bang Theory. That's how I know him as well.
Let's see. I really had fun reading this book, didn't stop to take a break when I was on the flight. You know how sometimes we read on the flight just for the sake of reading something for time to pass, yeah this was not like that. His stories and journey never made me bored. He seemed entirely honest, I like and appreciate how he embraces his culture and race well. I know a lot of indians or other asians who go to a western country and act as if suddenly, they aren't asian anymore. He is funny, knows where he stands and isn't cocky for one bit. I got interested in him more after reading the book and watched a few of his interviews on Youtube, which proved me right even more that he's funny and genuine. P.s. Larry King is bloody annoying as an interviewer. He should interview criminals. It fits his style better.
He talks about his relationships, girlfriends/family. I would say he is brave to share in depth things about his past relationships. I mean, I'm sure his entirely family (including his wife) will read it. LOL. Let's just say I felt shy for him at some points of the book. Or maybe I just belong in the 1970s when it comes to these things.
I guess I appreciate his writing, mainly because he sends a message not to take life too seriously, but take it seriously too. If you get it. I like how he explained and made me understand the struggle of an artiste. Their journey is not as easy as the majority of us (including myself) think. It's not just a matter of them "getting lucky" at an audition. There is so much of hard work, failures, guts needed/gone through before that "luck" falls on your lap.
For a man, I think he is really soft and emotional. Nothing wrong with being that way, I find it totally normal and kinda sexy. :p (TO A CERTAIN EXTENT) I mean we are all humans at the end of the day. It's just that our society doesn't encourage men to be soft and emotional, so I think it just shows that he isn't really bothered to keep up a persona for people to like him for something that he is not.
His book reminded me of Ellen's book, which I had reviewed sometime back. They have the same kind of vibe, although Kunal's one is considered more serious to me.
I would recommend this to fans of the show, Big Bang theory, or to someone who is having a tough time in deciding whether to pursue a career of interest, or a career of which you majored in, also to anyone who just needs a laugh.
Love,
Naia
