Why I decided to use a pen name to write

Ola amigos,

A few of those of my friends who are in the loop that I have decided to start taking my writing seriously have been asking me why I am not using my real name when it comes to publishing my work. I guess I decided to use a pen name for a number of reasons.

Firstly, I already have a few ideas in mind to create into books and these ideas are strongly based on my own personal experiences or events which were experienced by friends I know.

Secondly, whenever it comes to writing, often to make your story interesting even though it is based on true events or whatsoever, you really need to spice things up a little to make it dramatic, enticing and interesting enough for the readers to not get bored.

For the sake of protecting myself and friends, it is always best to keep things as anonymous as possible. Also because of the second point I have listed, I don't want a situation in future where it could get out of hand, and I get questioned and bombarded in my personal life about what is written in my books and it gets uncomfortable. Not that I'm not proud of my books or characters I create in the books or anything, it's just that I don't wish for people to mistake my stories which I write as the real story which goes on in my life.

Thirdly, for the sake of professionalism in my career aspect. As most of you know, (the most of you for now are people who know me personally), I am in the legal line and I do not wish to confuse my current employer/future employers on what I have to offer. If I was starting a legal novel or something then I would not have had this secrecy in the office. I don't want them to have misconceptions about anything.

And last but not least, because of my own social platform value :P. The big downfall I have in self publishing books is that unlike many people that I know of, I am not a very well known person in my personal life. My circle of friends are limited and I would not want the brand I create to be as boring and dull as my personal social platforms which I own.

With that said, I will still continue to speak to my readers any time they want over whatever platforms that are available. I have just created the Facebook page for Naia Ash and this is the link, https://www.facebook.com/naiaspeaks/, so do go ahead and like it, spread it, whatever you wish to do :) I do not think I will be planning to keep an instagram or twitter account just yet. Might be too early for all that at the moment.

Will update on the writing status soon :)

Love,

Naia
